Montague Island Tours

One of the best attractions on the South Coast is a Tour to Montague Island Nature Reserve. Relax aboard one of our vessels and enjoy your twenty minute voyage to Montague’s resident Seal Colony. Along the way you may encounter pods of migrating Whales (Sept to Nov), vast schools of friendly Dolphins, basking Sunfish, Manta Rays, or acres of pelagic fish.
In the company of your National Parks & Wildlife Service Tour Guide you will land on the Island to observe the resident wildlife and explore the magnificent Heritage Buildings where tea and coffee is served.
The Montague Island Tour has been a finalist for the National Tourism awards for two years and is a must for anyone visiting the area.Montague Island is well known for its colony of Little Penguins. These birds return to their burrows each evening after a busy time fishing in the waters in and around the Island. This nightly migration can be viewed on the evening tour to the Island.

What's special about Montague Island?
The Island is home to approximately 1600 Australian Fur Seals. Between August to Dec, you may  see up to 1600 Fur Seals and a few New Zealand Fur Seals. At other times the numbers will range  from 20 to 300.

The National Parks & Wildlife Service has renovated the Lightstation Quarters to original condition to help conserve Montague's rich and cultural heritage.

All Tours are subject to weather conditions and a minimum number of tour participants.

From the middle of September to the middle of November we operate Whale Watching cruises in conjunction with the Montague Island Tours.

The tour boat crews will do their very best to ensure you get to the Island and enjoy your tour. However, your safety and comfort is their highest priority and tours may be cancelled if the weather or sea conditions are unfavourable before or during the tour.

Where is Narooma

Narooma (place of blue water) is situated 4 hrs south of Sydney, 9 hrs north of Melbourne and 3 hrs east of Canberra. Population 8000 with main industry being tourism. It has lots of beautiful sandy beaches and is the perfect place to relax. There is a large variety of Accommodation and plenty of restaurants, clubs and pubs.
